This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used and disclosed by hiku labs, inc, with respect to your access and use of our services through our website: http://www.hiku.us/ (the "Site"), mobile applications and hiku device. This Privacy Policy doesn’t apply to any third-party websites, services or applications that can be accessed through our services.

Any information that is collected is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected. We may, however, modify and revise our Privacy Policy from time-to-time. If we make any material changes to this policy, we will notify you of such changes by posting them on our website, through our services or by sending you an email or other notification prior to the change becoming effective, and we will indicate when such changes will become effective. By continuing to access or use our services after those changes become effective, you are agreeing to be bound by the revised policy.

hiku labs, inc has received TRUSTe's Privacy Seal signifying that this privacy policy and our practices have been reviewed for compliance with the TRUSTe program viewable on the validation page available by clicking the TRUSTe seal. The TRUSTe program covers only information that is collected through this Site, http://www.hiku.us/ and the hiku mobile application.

What Information Do We Collect?

We will collect the personal information that you provide us, like your email address and full name, when you register for an account or for a support account. We collect the information that is transmitted by your hiku device, such as when a product’s barcode is scanned, or when you make a recording, in order to create your shopping list. Your hiku device will also collect and/or send certain technical information about its operation, such as your Wi-Fi network name, so that it can connect to our servers.

Note regarding children: Our services are not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If we learn that we have collected personally identifiable information from someone under 13, we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.

Note regarding international users: Your information will be transferred to and maintained on computers located in the United States (or any other country where we operate) and processed there, and by providing us with your information, you are accepting and agreeing to that transfer.

We also collect technical information that your mobile device sends when you use our services, like a device identifier, user settings, the operating system, as well as information about your use of our services. If you enable location services, we will collect your location and/or use various technologies to determine your location, such as sensor data from your device that provides information on nearby Wi-Fi access points. You can enable or disable location services through your mobile device settings.

We may collect your location-based information with and only with your consent for the purpose of locating a retail store availability within your area.  We will only share this information with our retail partners. We may also use location information for aggregate reporting on an anonymous basis and to improve our service.

We send push notifications to keep the hiku mobile application up-to-date and provide a full-featured service. If you no longer wish to receive such communications, you may turn them off either via your mobile device or through our mobile application.

Technologies such as: cookies, beacons, tags and scripts are used by hiku labs, inc and our analytics and other service providers. These technologies are used in analyzing trends, administering the Site, tracking users’ movements around the Site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports from our analytics or other service providers based on the use of these technologies by our analytics or other service providers on an aggregated basis.

We use cookies for us to identify your browser and to improve your use of our services. Users can control the use of cookies at the individual browser level. If you reject cookies, you may still use our Site, but your ability to use some features or areas of our Site may be limited.

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files.  This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data.

We may combine this automatically collected log information with other information we collect about you. We do this to improve the services we offer you.

We use Local Storage Objects (LSOs) such as HTML5 to store content information and preferences. Various browsers may offer their own management tools for removing HTML5 LSOs. Third parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our Site or to display advertising based upon your Web browsing activity use LSOs such Flash to collect and store information. We partner with third party analytics providers, e.g. companies like Google Analytics or Flurry, to manage our advertising on other websites and to improve our services. Our third party partner may use technologies such as cookies to gather information about your activities on this Site and other websites in order to provide you advertising based upon your browsing activities and interests.  If you wish to not have this information used for the purpose of serving you interest-based ads, you may opt-out by clicking here (or if located in the European Union click here).  Please note this does not opt you out of being served ads.  You will continue to receive generic ads.

How Do We Use the Information We Collect?

We use the information we collect through our services for the purposes described below:

to provide our services, and personalize and improve them over time,

to process and complete any transactions or purchases you want to make,

to respond to inquiries and send administrative messages regarding our services,

to monitor and analyze usage and trends of our services,

to provide you with relevant products and advertisements, and

for any other purpose for which the information was collected.

What Information Do We Share with Third Parties?

We will not share your personal information, except as described below:

when you instruct us to do so, such as when you share your shopping list or when we notify you that the information you provide will be shared in a particular manner and you provide such information (like when you make a purchase of a product),

with our service providers who are working with us in connection with the operation of our services (like to process a payment or provide you with support). in connection with an acquisition, sale of our assets, or other situation where user information would be transferred to a third party as one of our business assets (but the use of that information will remain subject to this Privacy Policy, unless you agree to that information being subject to a different or new privacy policy).

We may also share information about our users in anonymous (not personally identifiable) form with third parties for usage analytics (to help us better understand who is using our services and how), to improve the relevancy of the ads you see on our services (to tailor them to your interests) and for industry analysis, demographic profiling, research, and other similar purposes.

How to Access Your Information

You can access and modify the information you provided us through your account. If you completely delete all your information, your account will become deactivated and you will not be able to access our services through your account. If you would like us to update/modify or delete personal information about you from our system, please contact us with your request regarding the information you would like to update/modify or that we delete your personal information from our database by emailing us at support@hiku.us or by writing us at hiku labs, inc; 189 W. We will retain your information for as long as your account is not deactivated or as needed to provide you services.  We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Security Measures We Take to Protect Your Information

We employ administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, however, despite these efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. In the event that your personal information is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will promptly notify you if your personal information has been compromised, as required by applicable law.

Links to 3rd Party Sites

Our Site includes links to other websites whose privacy practices may differ from those of hiku labs, inc. If you submit personal information to any of those websites, your information is governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policy of any website you visit.

Single Sign-On

You can log in to our Site using sign-in services such as Twitter or an Open ID provider. These services will authenticate your identity and provide you the option to share certain personal information with us such as your name and email address to pre-populate our signup form.  Services like Twitter give you the option to post information about your activities on this Site to your profile page to share with others within your network.   

Social Media Widgets

Our Site includes social media features, such as the Facebook Like button and widgets, such as the Pin It button or interactive mini-programs that run on our Site. These social media features and widgets may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our Site, and may set a cookie to enable the social media feature or widget to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Site. Your interactions with these social media features and widgets are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.
